Understanding Muscle Tension
Muscle tension is so common that almost everyone has a few muscles that are more tense than the rest. Factors affecting muscle tension include:
- Inadequate sleep
- Lack of exercise
- Poor diet
- Excess nervous system activity,
- Not dressing warmly enough in cold weather (both inside and out)
- Smoking
- Inadequate rest and relaxation
- Inadequate holiday time
- Excess work
- Too much overtime
- Mental fatigue from worry, frustration, or anger
- Poor posture
